About

In the UK we believe in open justice. It is said that ‘not just justice be done, but be seen to be done’. Unless there is a special reason for courts to be closed to the public they are open.

Therefore any member of the public is allowed to attend most courts to hear the proceedings.

Where this is not possible they rely on reports from the media. The Judicial Studies Board in a booklet published n 2001 said:

The media is in court to report the proceedings to the public, the majority of whom will be unable to be there in person but have the right to be informed as to what has occurred. Accordingly, unless there is good and lawful reason, nothing should be done to prevent the publication to the wider public of fair and accurate reports of proceedings by the media.

Whoisincourt.com is a website that provides reports for the public, who, in the main, are unable to attend court themselves.

There is also a deterrent effect to aspiring criminals in the publication of cases and penalties. It is hoped, therefore, that such people will “think before they act” knowing that the media, including this website, will demonstrate that the law will be implemented where people do not adhere to the rules – and law - of society.

You can be a part of the whoisincourt.com phenomenon by becoming a franchisee for your area at a small cost.

With this website having such a popular content, it generates a huge volume of “web hits”, this could be a good opportunity for your company to advertise here.
